SRI LANKA in December for JETS and Friends!

Sri Lanka in December.
I was in Sri Lanka in October 2010 for a whirlwind trip around the island. This small
nation packs in an amazing variety of terrain, culture, history, delicious cuisine, and wonderful hospitality.
Sri Lanka, whose main religion is Buddhism, has an amazing seven religious and secular World Heritage sites dating as far back as 2000 years; some of these sites are still in active use today as schools, monasteries, and places of worship.
Sri Lanka also has an astonishing number of national parks for a country of its size, that are home to a diversity of wildlife. I was told that the island is one of the world's most rewarding destinations for bird watching.
The hill country with all its tea plantations is lushly verdant, with waterfalls at almost every turn in October. I longed to get out of the coach to hike in the hills. Finally, sun, sea, and sand make up some of the most pristine beaches in the world for just lazing around, windsurfing, whale watching, or diving.
This trip is especially for JET participants, friends, and family. We hope these ten days spent together exploring this wonderful island will also be an opportunity for you to network with your fellow JETS. Speaking as the parent of an international volunteer (in Indonesia), meeting your son or daughter's in-country companions while traveling together is a unique experience that is not to be missed!
